Inserting Images on HTML

I'm new to HTML and tried to create a simple HTML page. I downloaded some images and inserted them using HTML codes. But the page does not show images. When I check, I saw images do not show their image type. (Eg: .Png or.Jpg) how to save the image to show file type?

A wild guess here is that you saved the images in a different folder than the one that you reference in the HTML. If you could show the code I could figure it out.
